Education goes beyond the classroom and for young learners in Baytown, they enjoyed a recent hands-on, outdoor activity to learn about gardening while creating a nice gift to share. With the help from the Top Ladies of Distinction’s Baytown chapter, the young students planted flowers on April 10.

In the activity, they learned why soil is important in providing both the physical support and nutrients necessary for plants to grow. Students got their hands dirty, feeling the soil and helping plant the flowers in their individual pots. Campus staff expressed how much they enjoyed the activity, as it not only created lasting memories for the young minds but also taught them important eco-friendly lessons.

Partnerships like these from invested community volunteers help provide a well-rounded educational experience for Head Start students.
