According to the National AfterSchool Association (NAA), more than 10 million children participate in afterschool programs each year, and for every child enrolled, two more wait to get in. The Center for Afterschool, Summer and Enrichment (CASE) for Kids plays a critical role in supporting the academic, social and emotional development of more than 18,000 Harris County students annually.

This week, Harris County Department of Education joined the nation in celebrating Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week (April 20-24), a time to recognize, appreciate and advocate for those who work with young people during out-of-school time. CASE for Kids staff members were treated to a hearty breakfast on Tuesday, where they also received personalized letters of appreciation from colleagues. Members of the team were also recognized on the Department’s social media channels, which boasted the importance of a great staff that can create a safe environment for students.

CASE for Kids provides year-round resources and programming to Harris County learners through activities like the All-Earth Ecobot Challenge, the LevelUp Afterschool is Cool Youth Expo, CASE Debates and more.
