Harris County Department of Education (HCDE) and Education Foundation of Harris County (EFHC) leaders attended recent community events to network with partners and build relationships to best serve students and their families in greater Houston.

On Oct. 8, Education Foundation and Partnerships Director Trina Silva joined fellow education foundation representatives for the annual Board2Board Workshop. Hosted by the Humble Independent School District Education Foundation, foundation leaders, board members and staff exchanged ideas, shared best practices and strengthen relationships.

Silva attended Spring ISD’s Community “Meet and Greet” on Oct. 2, where partners connected with Dr. Kregg Cuellar, who took office as Spring ISD superintendent in September, and the district’s vision for the future.

On Oct. 3, HCDE Chief of Staff Danielle Bartz joined fellow community and business leaders at the 2025 State of the Port luncheon. Ric Campo, chairman of the Port Commission of the Port of Houston Authority, gave an update on infrastructure projects, including the Houston Ship Channel, and insight on trade and future growth opportunities. Attendees also heard from a former Houston Independent School District student who completed a maritime CTE program and is now captain of the nation’s first plug-in hybrid electric inland towing vessel.
