Two days after generously donating backpacks to Aldine Independent School District students, the Education Foundation of Harris County (EFHC) matched the donation to Spring ISD families, pushing its total to more than 700 backpacks for the start of the 2025-2026 school year.

Foundation and Partnerships Director Trina Silva and Harris County Department of Education Chief of Staff Danielle Bartz were on hand Aug. 2 at Dekaney High School for Spring ISD’s annual Back to School Expo, where families could receive school supplies in addition to hearing and vision screenings and other student services.

EFHC donated 384 backpacks to the expo, an effort made in response to a request from Rep. Senfronia Thompson’s office. The Foundation was proud to step in and help fill a need, donating a total of 768 backpacks to Aldine and Spring ISD students.
