To help hundreds of Aldine Independent School District students and their families start the 2025-2026 school year off with one less thing to worry about, the Education Foundation of Harris County (EFHC) served as a partner at the district’s 10th annual Back-to-School Expo. Held July 31 at the M.O. Campbell Educational Center, the expo allowed families to drive up and receive free backpacks, school supplies and other freebies before Aldine ISD begins classes Aug. 11. It also featured kid-friendly activities and other valuable community resources.

EFHC generously donated 384 backpacks for the expo in addition to foundation-branded keychains. #TeamHCDE staff also helped prepare the backpacks – each included a personalized note – and deliver them to the distribution site.

It’s the first of two backpack donations – the foundation will also gift 384 backpacks to Spring Independent School District students during its back-to-school expo on Aug. 2 at Dekaney High School.

The effort was made in response to a request from Rep. Senfronia Thompson’s office, and EFHC was proud to step in, help meet the need and provide more than 700 backpacks to students in District 141.
