Two members of #TeamHCDE spent part of early July reinforcing their training skills and connecting with fellow industry professionals for the betterment of providing the best learning experience for Harris County students. Michelle Rayson, compliance and technical support officer in the Special Schools division, and Cordegus Monette, transition specialist at Academic and Behavior School West, attended the Certified Instructors’ Conference, held July 6-11 in Nashville.
Put on by the Crisis Prevention Institute, the conference allowed attendees to renew or enhance their certifications, while on-site training programs included verbal intervention, nonviolent crisis intervention and nonviolent crisis intervention with intermediate physical or advanced physical skills. Continuing educational units were available, as were workshops on topics that included relationship building, neuroscience and its impact on behavior, tools to alleviate burnout.
