Special Schools Host Job Fair to Recruit Top Educators
1April 16, 2025 by HCDE Communications
As one school year ends, Harris County Department of Education is preparing to welcome students by hiring top talent for the next.
Our Special Schools and Human Resources divisions hosted job fairs on April 12 to recruit high-quality teachers capable of aiding students with unique educational challenges. With the assistance of various social media recruitment campaigns and media outreach, the events drew 40 prospective educators to our Highpoint School and Academic and Behavior School East and West campuses.

Campus staff welcomed applicants to share their qualifications, learn about the Department’s culture and tour the new facilities. More than half of the applicants were interested in teaching positions across the division.
Interested applicants can visit hcdetexas.schoolspring.com for more information about upcoming job fairs and to apply.

Hey — I just came across the post about the job fair hosted by Harris County Department of Education’s Special Schools division and it totally hit home for me. The idea of walking into a fair, talking to principals and school leaders, trying to figure out if the “fit” is ryt — I’ve been there.
I actually felt a mix of excitement + anxiety: excited because it feels like something could change, and anxious because it also reminds me how job-searching in education isn’t just “send CV and wait” anymore — you’ve got to talk, network, bring yourself. If you’re in that place too, just know I’m with you on it.
Also — just a heads up, if you’re browsing for other roles or thinking “what’s next after this fair”, I recently spotted AcademicJobs.com and it seems to quietly list education roles (including special-ed, support roles, etc) that might be worth peeking at. No pressure, just sharing since it helped me when I was poking around.
