Nearly 100 area middle school students were celebrated at the Harris County Regional Art Exhibit reception on March 6, hosted by Harris County Department of Education’s (HCDE) Center for Educator Success (CES).  The event celebrated the talented visual artists recognized by the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. 

HCDE is the second-largest regional affiliate for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards – more than 4,800 entries received honors, including Gold Key and Silver Key recognition. Multiple prestigious celebrations honor these creative artists, culminating in the Scholastic Art & Writing Regional Ceremonies slated for March 27 at the Cullen Theater in the Wortham Center. 

Among these celebrations are the art exhibits. The high school pieces are on display at HCDE’s North Post Oak Building (Feb. 25 to March 21). The middle school artwork is at Texas Art Supply (Feb. 28 to March 28). 

At the March 6 Art Exhibit Reception, middle school art winners, their families and art teachers enjoyed refreshments, a photo backdrop and the opportunity to network and admire other top artworks.
