Harris County Department of Education is joining organizations across the nation in celebrating Black History Month, a time to pay tribute to and honor the many contributions of Black Americans and people of African descent.

Throughout the month, HCDE’s social media channels will celebrate significant figures in Black history and highlight inspirational quotes from notable men and women. As the country marks the 99th year of officially celebrating Black History Month, posts and videos will share the importance of upholding the rich histories, resilience and respect for African American culture.

HCDE’s Special Schools and Head Start divisions will also celebrate with various events, programs and curricula.
