The Harris County Department of Education (HCDE) Civic Engagement Team continued its busy schedule of presentations and meetings with community members leading up to the Nov. 5 election.
Civic Engagement Coordinator Avery Spranger and Specialist Arnaldo Sandoval-Guerrero were at Chavez High School on Oct. 15 as Center for Afterschool, Summer and Enrichment (CASE) for Kids participants at the campus led a Voter 101 Presentation to parents and peers. The two worked with students in the weeks prior, teaching presentation tips and preparing them with information to share.
This week, Civic Engagement began visits to Head Start campuses, reading to students and sharing information with parents. Joining Spranger and Sandoval-Guerrero for the visits included HCDE Chief of Staff Danielle Bartz, Education Foundation of Harris County Director Trina Silva and interns Hadi Tontonchian (EFHC) and Sandra Teran (Civic Engagement).
