While music filled the art studio with welcoming sounds, guests and patrons gathered June 12 to celebrate the 2024 Education Foundation of Harris County (EFHC) Heart of Education Luncheon Kickoff and host committee party. The event, held at Segovia Studios in East Downtown, showcased this year’s luncheon theme – Journey Through the Looking Glass of Early Childhood Learning – and gave guests their first opportunity to participate and support the function.

The luncheon returns following a successful debut in 2023 and is scheduled for Oct. 3 at the Junior League of Houston. This year’s Luncheon Committee co-chairs are Leisa Holland-Nelson and Shavonnah Roberts Schreiber, who formed Culture Club HTX in March. The radio show and video series highlight and showcase unique business, community and culture in Houston.

Following their introduction and sharing their passion for supporting education in Harris County, Holland-Nelson and Schreiber revealed Pat Mann Phillips as the honored luncheon fireside chat guest speaker. Phillips was the first woman elected as chair of the board directors for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, which like the EFHC, shares a strong commitment to supporting education and providing opportunities for students and educators.
