Harris County Department of Education’s Center for Safe and Secure Schools (CSSS) shifted their focus from schools to elder safety this week at the 15th Annual Elder Abuse Conference, hosted by the Houston Adult Protective Services Board.

CSSS’ Officer of School Safety and Security Jeremy Foster led a presentation on situational awareness for senior citizens titled “Be Aware and Be Prepared.” During his presentation, citizens were equipped with essential knowledge and skills to ensure personal safety. The training also emphasized the importance of preparedness to effectively respond to potential dangers or unsafe situations such as caregiver neglect, abuse and financial exploitation.
