Afterschool is Cool Youth Expo Helps Students Gain “Championship Mindset”

Get ready to play hard and win at the LevelUp Afterschool is Cool Youth Expo, where students don’t just hear about opportunities — they experience them. Now in its third year, the CASE for Kids event prepares middle and high school students for college, career and life success through interactive learning experiences.

On March 28, more than 150 students across Houston-area school districts will gather at the University of Houston to focus on their “Game Plan for Success.” Afterschool providers will lead students through sessions that help them develop a “championship mindset,” emphasizing preparation, teamwork and resilience.

A key part of the Youth Expo is the collaboration between CASE for Kids and local colleges, businesses and workforce partners who help bring real-world insight to three future-ready tracks – Money Moves, Playbook Strategies and Innovation Arena. Industry experts will offer interactive simulations to practice budgeting and making financial decisions, and explore career opportunities in phlebotomy, electrical engineering, refineries and more. College representatives will also break down pathways to higher education and admissions readiness for interested high schoolers.

The Expo is part of LevelUp Houston, Harris County’s student badging platform, developed by CASE for Kids and MyVoluntier and funded by the Houston Endowment through the Education Foundation of Harris County.
