Working hard can lead to rewards and a number of Academic and Behavior School students found out this week with a few hours of video games after completing the i-Ready Challenge.

Earning the reward meant hours spent engaging and completing lessons in the i-Ready Personalized Instructional Program, a web-based learning platform that delivers online lessons in reading and mathematics. Instruction is tailored for each student’s needs, while it’s also complemented with teacher resources to allow educators to target specific needs.

The i-Ready Challenge for students at ABS East and ABS West ran from Oct. 1-Dec. 1 and pushed them to not only meet monthly goals, but be among the top finishers on their respective campuses and show consistent progress. The smaller goals earned students monthly goodie grab bags and even ‘Lunch with a Leader’ right before the winter break.

Those top-10 students who earned lunch were also given VIP gaming access to the truck, while everyone who passed 20 lessons could game as well.

The gaming truck started the day at ABS West before making its way across town for three more hours of fun at ABS East.

The initiative highlights academic success at the AB schools, which is essential as many campus students often work through unique challenges. This continues to shift the narrative from behavior-focused education to strength-based and instructional achievement, reminding students they are capable scholars.
