Many of Harris County’s youngest learners were treated to more than just a story this month from their SuperMENtors, as a number of Harris County Department of Education leaders donned their Santa hats and holiday threads, and visited Head Start centers with gifts in tow this week.

Superintendent James Colbert Jr. and Choice Partners Senior Director Jeff Drury were among the SuperMENtors to read “Maisy Makes Gingerbread” by Lucy Cousins. They then went a step further, delivering gifts and trinkets to the young students.

As part of the Head Start Significant Male Initiative, SuperMENtors connects male role models with students at HCDE Head Start centers. Community volunteers and business partners join Colbert, all four Executive Leadership Team male staff members and various division directors in serving the 12 campuses.
