Afterschool and out-of-school-time program leaders took the skies and learned how students can enjoy motion, trajectory and aerodynamics in the latest Fall Professional Workshop hosted by the Center for Afterschool, Summer and Enrichment (CASE) for Kids.
Held on Nov. 14, they built and launched straw rockets. The training prepared attendees to not only implement the Pitsco Straw Rocket Launcher with Harris County students in their respective afterschool programs, but also train fellow staff members to lead the hands-on activity. Lessons like these boost STEM confidence and creativity with students.
The training series continues Nov. 20 and will look at elevating youth voices in out-of-school-time programs and helping staff create structured and meaningful opportunities for youth leadership that can enhance engagement without compromising safety.
