Throughout afterschool and out-of-school-time programs across Harris County, staff members and community leaders support students with homework to help them progress academically. To help share strategies and explore best practices to positively impact students in this space, the Center for Afterschool, Summer and Enrichment (CASE) for Kids hosted the Fall Professional Workshop, “Homework Help,” on Oct. 17.

The workshop highlighted how the time between school and home can be impactful for helping youth catch up or maintain their schoolwork. Attendees explored practices to support students and learned how to frame academic support as an opportunity to build relationships and nurture positive growth.

CASE for Kids is offering nine training courses through December. The next (Nov. 4) prepares programs for World Kindness Day on Nov. 13, 2025. Participants will explore fun, youth-centered activities that promote empathy, compassion and connection by highlighting the power of kindness.
