When life gives you lemons (and a little bit of homegrown mint), you make lemonade. What started as a simple idea for Academic and Behavior School West students to use ingredients from their campus garden became a full-blown entrepreneurial adventure. With aprons tied and smiles ready, six students rolled up their sleeves to mix, measure and serve refreshing cups of lemonade to their classmates and staff while soaking up valuable lessons.

The lemonade stand brought life skills and academics together. Students from Ms. Razjhe Johnson’s class practiced math by measuring ingredients and counting Knight Bucks, strengthened teamwork and communication skills and learned the joy of serving others with kindness.

By the end of the day, their efforts paid off in more ways than one. The young entrepreneurs raised $213, but the true reward was seeing their confidence soar and hard work come to life. Each glass of lemonade was a little taste of success and a big step toward building pride and community at ABS West.
