Healthy Minds, Healthy Families Conference Scheduled for Oct. 24

More than 500 infants, toddlers, and children ages 3-5 attended the first day of school across Harris County Department of Education’s (HCDE) 15 Early Head Start and Head Start campuses. Throughout the year, children and families will follow the Frog Street Press pre-kindergarten curriculum, which promotes school readiness and prepares them for a smooth transition to kindergarten.

You must help yourself before you can help someone else, and that’s what the annual Healthy Minds, Healthy Families Conference is about. Harris County Department of Education’s Head Start division hosts the event, bringing educators and families together with wellness advocates to share resources and strategies that strengthen mental health.

Parents, guardians and educators are invited to the conference scheduled for 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Oct. 24 in the Irvington Conference Center. This year’s theme, “Leveling the Wellness Scale,” highlights the importance of finding balance in mental, emotional and physical well-being so individuals and families can thrive. The conference aligns with Head Start’s mission to provide comprehensive services to families that include health, education, financial and any other service deemed necessary for the family to be successful.
