A group of Fortis Academy students recently visited Lamar University in Beaumont to explore higher education. Campus staff organized the visit to inform the high schoolers about various requirements and inspire them to pursue their dreams.
Students met with university representatives who gave them a campus tour and information about traditions and educational offerings. University leaders encouraged students during discussions about the admissions process and praised Fortis Academy for showing students how to manage a school-life balance, as many students maintain part-time jobs. The visit to Lamar University is part of Fortis leaders’ efforts to celebrate National Recovery Month, which is observed annually in September, by showing students the various possibilities for life when sober.
