The Adult Education Learning Center is setting the expectation for safe, innovative learning environments statewide. The Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) and Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) recently awarded Harris County Department of Education two Stars of Distinction as part of the 2025-2026 Exhibit of School Architecture.

The collection features more than 40 projects that showcase new and renovated Texas schools and are meant to celebrate excellence in the planning and design of learning environments. HCDE’s $19 million facility is designed to mirror a community college atmosphere with 17 classrooms, five laboratories, administrative offices, a student lounge and a multipurpose community room. TASA/TASB leaders will recognize the Department and Cre8 Architects for the building’s design and value at txEDCON 2025, the TASA/TASB Convention, in Houston on Sept. 12-13. All projects are also featured in an online exhibit, here.
