Harris County Department of Education (HCDE) Superintendent James Colbert Jr. and Special Schools Division leadership traveled to Cypress Trails Ranch in Humble on Sept. 9 to participate in the equine interactive experience and determine if the facility would best serve HCDE students. Cypress Trails Ranch offers trail rides, lessons and interactive activities.

HCDE schools and students have participated in equine therapy programs for years, as initiatives such as Self-Improvement through Riding Education (SIRE) and other equine therapy programs build self-esteem, confidence and relationships skills through feeding, grooming and caring for horses.
