Beginning on Sept. 10, Harris County Department of Education (HCDE) employees and community partners have the opportunity to support the Education Foundation of Harris County (EFHC) while getting an extra boost from the Texas Children’s Houston Open.

The fundraising campaign will run through March 30, 2026, helping highlight the city’s professional golf tour stop and the Birdies for Charity program. Area nonprofit organizations will use the Houston Open as leverage to generate donations, receiving 100% of funds generated in addition to a guaranteed 5% match.

In addition to supporting EFHC programs and initiatives that support area students and educators, each $20 donation through the Birdies for Charity program earns one entry to the “Guess the Birdies” contest, where participants guess the total number of birdies expected during the 2026 Houston Open. The winner of the contest will receive a grand prize suite at Daikin Park for a 2026 Houston Astros game.

In 2025, the Birdies for Charity program raised more than $1.7 million for Houston area organizations, and impacted nearly 80 nonprofits across greater Houston.
