In supporting Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District and its newly formed partnership with Harris County Department of Education, HCDE leadership was on hand for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the new beginning for the Peter E. Hyland Center Empower Academy.
Held on Aug. 26, Dr. Eduardo Honold, Adult Education senior director, and Program Manager Bill Medina attended the ribbon cutting.
HCDE recently secured a partnership with GCCISD to administer classes to district parents and stakeholders for satisfy high school equivalency (HSE, formerly GED) diploma and English as a Second Language (ESL) certification requirements. The district converted a former elementary school building into a campus for adult learners and students who dropped out but aim to complete their studies. Attendees will be able to earn their HSE diploma in addition to various workforce certifications.
Plans are in place to begin HCDE adult education classes at the center soon.
