Teachers and administrators put their game faces on for some friendly competition as they participated in team-building exercises before the first day of school. Throughout the week, each of Harris County Department of Education’s four Special Schools hosted a day of professional development centered around activities that encouraged #TeamHCDE to push themselves to new heights, work together to reach a common goal and get excited for the new year.

Academic and Behavior School West brought out a series of card and board games that got the blood pumping with that competitive spirit as groups worked to win at spades, dominoes or Jeopardy! Teachers at Highpoint School embraced their creativity in striving to paint their new mascot, “Lenny the Mountain Lion,” while those at Fortis Academy designed fun supply-themed canvases that serve as welcome signs for their classrooms. Each day of activities fostered a stronger sense of camaraderie and enthusiasm, setting the stage for a successful school year.
