Avery Spranger, HCDE’s Civic Engagement Coordinator, served as a featured speaker at the Houston Public Library’s Youth Summit on June 24-26 at the Julia Ideson Building. The summit is among three library summer camps and was hosted in partnership with Mi Familia en Acción, OCA Houston and Pure Justice.

More than 100 high school students from across the nation attended, meeting and networking with City of Houston Councilmembers and learning from other community leaders. Topics covered included government relations, civic engagement and advocacy.

Spranger joined other young professionals invited to speak on the paths to their roles and college and career readiness in relation to civic engagement.
