Harris County Department of Education (HCDE) staff and community partners continued to be celebrated this week as part of the Head Start Real SuperMENtors Read Program. Each May, Head Start centers honor and recognize their SuperMENtors for their commitment to serving Harris County’s youngest learners throughout the year.

Assistant superintendents Jonathan Parker and Dr. CJ Rodgers visited JD Walker and Channelview Head Start center, respectively, on May 15. Students made personalized gifts for their mentors to recognize their impact to the program. They were also treated to song and dance performances.

As part of Head Start’s Significant Male Initiative, SuperMENtors included Superintendent James Colbert Jr., members of the HCDE executive leadership team, and both community and business partners.
