ABS East Community, Department Leaders Come Together to Honor Graduates

Seven Academic and Behavior School (ABS) East graduates were honored and celebrated May 16 for their academic achievements. In front of family members, friends, campus staff and Harris County Department of Education leadership, the students enjoyed the commencement moments.

The ceremony began with campus leadership recognizing outstanding student achievement, most improved honors and those named to the honor roll. Each graduation was presented with a certificate of graduation.

Educational aide Thomas Wilson offered words of encouragement, while Assistant Superintendent for Academic Support Services Jonathan Parker and Special Schools Senior Director Dr. Charles Ned each also spoke, thanking parents for entrusting HCDE and ABS East staff to support and invest in their children.

“Life will have distractions, but it is our responsibility to give them to tools they need to ignore those distractions,” Wilson said. “Those can keep you from being the best that you can be.”
