Hoping this isn’t their only tour with #TeamHCDE, Harris County Department of Education’s (HCDE) two interns were celebrated for their final days of service in support of Department initiatives and Harris County students and families.

University of Houston students Sophia Rodriguez and Saron Regassa joined HCDE for the spring semester as part of the school’s Civic Houston Internship Program through the Hobby School of Public Affairs. It connects UH upperclassmen and select sophomores with government offices, nonprofit organizations and campaigns. Rodriguez, a pre-law sophomore, served her internship with the Education Foundation of Harris County, the philanthropic arm of HCDE, while Regassa, who graduates in May, joined the Civic Engagement team for the last three months.
Both built relationships with community partners and assisted with HCDE programs and initiatives. As part of their contributions to the Department, Rodriguez helped redesign the EFHC website, and Regassa assisted with information sessions ahead of the May elections.
HCDE wishes them all the best as they continue their education and public service.
