This week, Special Schools highlighted the incredible campus leaders who help make Harris County Department of Education (HCDE) schools stronger, safer and more supportive every day.
Assistant Principals play a huge role in shaping our school culture, supporting teachers, mentoring students and ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. Their leadership does not go unnoticed, but National Assistant Principals Week is a perfect opportunity to show them some love.

Highpoint School honored Troy Moore, Lenora Lewis and Tomeisha Reed with campus swag and inspirational blankets bearing “Best Assistant Principal Ever” branding. Across town at Academic and Behavior School West, a catered lunch and tokens of appreciation were given to Tawana Daniels, Carroll Ford and Gaylynn Sanders for their dedication to students. Sergio Lopez was greeted with a decorated office and gifted HCDE swag, gift cards and sweet treats for his hard work at Academic and Behavior School East.
Taking the opportunity to recognize and celebrate HCDE’s assistant principals not only shows the Department’s gratitude but reinforces the vital role they play in the success of Harris County students.
