The Education Foundation of Harris County (EFHC) continued supporting local initiatives and building nationwide partnerships at recent events.

On March 20, Education Foundation and Partnerships Director Trina Silva and Dr. Lisa Caruthers, Center for Afterschool, Summer and Enrichment (CASE) for Kids senior director, attended the Houston East End Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Luncheon. HCDE served as a table sponsor for the event, which featured a panel discussion from Houston business and community leaders. Among the speakers were Dr. Margaret Ford Fisher, Houston Community College chancellor; and Benchawan Jabthong Painter, Street to Kitchen restaurant founder and chef.

Also representing EFHC were board treasurer Gina Felton and advisory board member Courtney Taylor.

Silva attended the National Association of Education Foundation annual conference on March 25-27. Held in Knoxville, Tenn., conference attendees gained opportunities to network, address similar education foundation challenges and develop new strategies and insights. Silva also met with representatives from Orange County Department of Education as well as in-state attendees from Odessa, Royse City, College Station, Sante Fe, Spring and Irving among others.
