Center for Educator Success Continues Successful Partnership in Spring ISD Alternative Certification Program

Aspiring educators in Spring Independent School District were busy at work this week, finalizing their preparations for content exams and taking advantage of a successful partnership between the school district and Harris County Department of Education’s Center for Educator Success (CES).

In Year 3 of a partnership with CES and Spring ISD, the customized teacher certification program supports the district’s approach to promote talented staff members who already hold bachelor’s degrees but lack a teacher certification. The current cohort includes 15 candidates across Spring ISD and HCDE and certifications range from special education, science of teaching reading and core subject areas. Throughout the academic year, candidates receive coursework in areas of classroom management, instructional planning, special populations and test preparation.

Spring ISD pays the cost of the program while the cohort meets at the district’s TeachUp Spring Learning Center to relieve additional burdens.
