The Center for Grants Development has been instrumental in securing funding for Harris County Department of Education (HCDE) divisions like CASE for Kids, Special Schools and the Center for Safe and Secure Schools. Led by Director Joyce Akins, the team knows how to locate funding and draft proposals that accurately describe how grants are leveraged for the betterment of Harris County students and families.
On Feb. 20, HCDE experts shared their knowledge with community partners, independent school district representatives and more at the “All About Grants” workshop. The one-day event held at the Irvington Conference Center featured several sessions, networking opportunities and prizes. Topics included the basics of grant writing and creating winning proposals, how to research funding opportunities and project planning.
The workshop is an opportunity for HCDE to empower local educators and organizations to secure resources for the individuals they serve while also increasing the Department’s impact throughout Harris County.
