The giving season is already in full swing and business partner Newrest has stepped up to serve every student at Highpoint School and Fortis Academy. Approximately 180 turkeys (valued at $3,000) were donated to the students during the “Turkey Give-a-Way at the Point” on Nov. 15 at Highpoint. Newrest management team members were on hand for the giveaway.

Newrest provides meal service and catering to United Airlines and is a top donor for the Houston Food Bank. The idea originated through a conversation between Highpoint Principal Secretary Rosa Madrigal and her husband, Raul Madrigal Jr., who works at Newrest. Raul took the idea to Vinod Bollampally, Newrest senior operations leader, who agreed on serving the students and campuses.

Through community partnerships like these, HCDE is able to provide additional support and resources for Harris County families.
