Special Schools Gain Insight into Military on Veterans Day

Special Schools created meaningful experiences for students to learn about military history during Veterans Day ceremonies on Nov. 11. Students at Highpoint School and Academic and Behavior School West shared spoken words filled with gratitude while also reflecting on the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes.

Special Schools created meaningful experiences for students to learn about military history during Veterans Day ceremonies on Nov. 11. Students at Highpoint School and Academic and Behavior School West shared spoken words filled with gratitude while also reflecting on the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes. Harris County Department of Education teachers who served in various military branches provided firsthand accounts about their backgrounds, decisions to join the armed forces and how those choices impacted their lives. Many students were curious to learn how each branch instills loyalty, discipline and independence in servicemen and women. The assemblies highlighted the significance of Veterans Day and inspired students by showcasing diverse career paths and the importance of serving others.
