Harris County Department of Education (HCDE) and Education Foundation of Harris County (EFHC) leadership continued supporting local initiatives at recent events, and in turn, leverages these partnerships to support Harris County students and educators through district sponsorships, innovative campus grants, school supplies in classrooms and scholarships for graduating seniors.

HCDE Chief of Staff Danielle Bartz attended the Greater Houston Partnership Future of Texas luncheon on Oct. 31. It featured Harris County Commissioners Adrian Garcia and Tom Ramsey in conversation with Steve Clarke, vice president at Jacobs and member of the Greater Houston Partnership board of directors.

Greater Houston Texas held an election recap Nov. 6, and Bartz and the HCDE Civic Engagement team were on hand to hear notable takeaways and trends from the general election.

On Nov. 1, Education Foundation and Partnerships Director Trina Silva and newly appointed EFHC Board of Director Ximena Magana attended the Houston Community College 2024 State of the College Breakfast. They joined hundreds of education advocates and business partners who champion education.

Silva attended the Communities in Schools (CIS) of Houston’s Brighter Futures BBQ fundraiser on Nov. 2. The organization’s mission is to surround students with a community of support and initiatives that include academic assistance, mental health services and family resources.

On Nov. 6, Silva attended the Local Initiatives Support Corporation Houston’s 35th Anniversary, which celebrated organizations and community leaders collaborating to impact meaningful change in neighborhoods and communities.
