Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Donates Essential Items to Baytown Head Start

Harris County Department of Education (HCDE) employees work throughout the year to interact with members of the community and build partnerships that strengthen our impact on students and families. Those efforts are paying off as Baytown Head Start recently received a school supply donation from the Zeta Tau chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International.

Baytown Head Start Family Service Provider Fatimah Schoffield, left, and campus manager Courtney Johnson, right, receive a donation of essential supplies from Epsilon Sigma Alpha International members Gayle Edwards and Debbie Sanderson.

Fatimah Schoffield, Baytown’s family services provider, shared how they strive to prepare Harris County’s youngest learners for kindergarten by emphasizing language, literacy and social-emotional skills. Upon learning more about HCDE’s Head Start division, chapter members Gayle Edwards and Debbie Sanderson decided to donate essential items, such as crayons, markers, construction paper, baby wipes, Kleenex and more to the campus.

Partnership with organizations like Epsilon Sigma Alpha International, Bates Collision Center or members of the community support the Department’s 12 Head Start campuses in their mission to provide the best comprehensive services available to young learners.
