Behind every successful campus is a visionary leader who inspires, guides and empowers their students and staff. Special Schools principals Travita Godfrey, Mercedes Love, Jatata Hutton and Courtney Waters kicked off National Principals Month with a roundtable discussion about their mentors, collaboration and vision for Harris County Department of Education campuses.

These talented educators bring decades of experience to their positions, having served in independent districts nationwide as teachers, coaches, counselors and in various administrative positions. National Principals Month, celebrated each October, honors their dedication and passion for education, which shapes the future one student at a time.

Communications and Creative Services will spotlight the principals during a campaign that includes written stories in the Connector, a series of clips from the roundtable discussion and throwback photos of campus leaders on the Department’s social media accounts. The campaign aims to publicly recognize the group for their dedication to the unique needs of Harris County students, bring principals closer to the community and create awareness about HCDE’s Special Schools.

Principals will also be recognized for their impact with a certificate and special video presentation at the Oct. 16 board meeting.
