Scholastic Art & Writing Coordinators from school districts across the Houston area donned their leis and gathered for a luau luncheon on May 31, hosted by Harris County Department of Education’s (HCDE) Center for Educator Success (CES).  

The luncheon allowed the CES team to fellowship with regional coordinators from local school districts, charter and private schools, and thank them for their participation in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. The luncheon also served as a “thank you” to other HCDE divisions who had a hand in making this year’s award ceremonies successful.

HCDE is the second-largest regional sponsor for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards program in the nation and received more than 15,800 art and writing submissions this year from Harris, Galveston and Fort Bend counties.
