Head Start Celebrates SuperMENtors

Head Start campuses across Houston closed out a successful 2023-2024 Real SuperMENtors Read Program partnership by celebrating the numerous male volunteers on May 16.
As part of Head Start’s Significant Male Initiative, SuperMENtors visit their respective Head Start campuses once a month from October to April and read to students. There are currently 40 SuperMENtors, including Superintendent James Colbert Jr. and members of the HCDE executive leadership team.

Colbert and Choice Partners Senior Director Jeff Drury were among four mentors celebrated at Dogan Head Start. Each received a certificate and thank you card among other tokens of appreciation.
At Humble Head Start, mentors were welcomed by a large yellow sign the read, “We (Love) Our Super Mentors.” Each posed for photos with students in front of the sign in addition to reading inside.
