Graduation season has officially begun for Harris County Department of Education! Board President Andrea Duhon is demonstrating that everyone can be a lifelong learner by turning the tassel once again to mark the completion of her studies.

On Thursday, Duhon walked the stage in front of thousands to receive a Master of Public Administration from the Hobby School of Public Affairs (HSPA) at the University of Houston.

“My passion for the public sector began when I searched for public education program funding for my daughter; I found myself running to serve as a Harris County Department of Education Board Trustee,” Duhon said in a statement for HSPA’s social media account. “Serving in this capacity generated a thirst for more knowledge surrounding local governmental entities, public services and how the two interact to truly benefit the public.”

In addition to her role as an HCDE Trustee, Duhon is the executive director for management districts at Hawes Hill & Associates.

Congratulations on your accomplishments, Board President Duhon.
