Adult Education Teams Up with Workforce Solutions, Houston Public Library for Career Solutions

Representatives from Workforce Solutions and the Houston Public Library’s Community Engagement Team visited HCDE’s Adult Education division on April 3, presenting on various topics and sharing information with a number of students.

Classes were held both inside the new Adult Education building and “outside” in the parking lot courtesy of the Houston Public Library, which brought its Mobile Express Technology Lab. The converted bus is outfitted with smart TVs, high-speed internet, computers and webcams.

The community partners led information sessions at the Adult Education Learning Center on April 3.

Students in Adult Education’s Certified Nursing Assistant in Spanish and ESL classes attended the sessions led by Workforce Solutions career navigators. Sessions included presentations on financial literacy and planning, resume building and tips, and resources available at the career center.

Following the sessions, Superintendent James Colbert Jr. and Assistant Superintendent of Education and Enrichment CJ Rodgers toured the technology lab.
