Trina Silva Named Director of Education Foundation and Partnerships for Harris County Department of Education

Trina Silva has been named the new director of Education Foundation and Partnerships for Harris County Department of Education. With a successful background in community engagement, fundraising, volunteer management and event coordination, Silva most recently served as director of advancement for the University of Houston’s College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.

“I am incredibly excited about the opportunity to join Harris County Department of Education,” she said. “With my background and experience in community engagement, fundraising and partnerships, I am confident I can contribute meaningfully to the department’s mission and goals. This role aligns perfectly with my passion for education and commitment to creating positive change within the community.”

The Alvin native began her community engagement and development career as an intern and then project coordinator for the Houston East End Chamber of Commerce in 2013. Silva joined Crisis Intervention of Houston in 2015 as a community engagement coordinator. She also served as a corporate sales manager for Anheuser-Busch InBev before returning to the Houston East End Chamber of Commerce as a member and program manager.

Silva joined the University of Houston’s College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences in 2018 as a development coordinator and was appointed to her current position in 2022.

Silva earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism-Public Relations from Sam Houston State University and her Master of Arts in Humanities from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.

“I look forward to leading the Education Foundation to new heights by fostering innovative partnerships, securing resources through strategic fundraising initiatives and implementing impactful programs that directly benefit Harris County students and educators,” Silva said. “I am excited to engage with community members, businesses, board members and other stakeholders to build strong, collaborative relationships that enhance educational opportunities and outcomes for all.”
