Superintendent Colbert Delivers Keynote Address for Houston Touchdown Club Scholar-Athlete Luncheon

Superintendent James Colbert Jr. served as the keynote speaker for the Touchdown Club of Houston’s High School Scholar-Athlete Luncheon, held Feb. 21 at the Bayou City Event Center. The event honors senior football players across Houston. Candidates are nominated by their respective coaches and judged on academic honors, citizenship and football accomplishments. Finalists are selected by representatives from the offices of the presidents at Houston Christian University, Rice University, Texas Southern University and the University of Houston.

In addition to serving as keynote speaker, Colbert joined touchdown club representatives in presenting each finalist with a certificate, along with naming the top three honorees. Each finalist received a $500 scholarship from the Touchdown Club of Houston, and the top three received additional scholarship money.
