HCDE divisions and outside entities learned the art of grant writing this week at the Center for Grants Development’s “All About Grants” workshop.

The one-day workshop held at the Irvington Conference Center featured three sessions, networking opportunities and prizes. Topics included the basics of grants and creating winning proposals, how to research funding opportunities and successful project planning.

“Acquiring grant funds can be challenging,” said Joyce Akins, Center for Grants Development director. “We wanted to give the community and HCDE staff important insights into the necessary components of writing grant proposals. While we’re waiting on our workshop evaluations, the immediate feedback from participants was very positive. We wanted to provide valuable information about different aspects of the grant writing process, and from the looks of it, we accomplished our goal.”
