Harris County Department of Education Trustee for Position 6, Precinct 1, Danyahel “Danny” Norris, announced his resignation during the November 15, 2023, regular HCDE board meeting. Norris is stepping down to pursue a candidacy for state office.

Following Norris’ resignation, HCDE has opened a call for applications to fill the now-vacant board position for the remainder of the term for Position 6, which expires December 2024. Interested individuals must reside in Harris County Precinct 1 and submit their resume and an affidavit of eligibility to HCDE Legal Counsel Sarah Langlois at slanglois@snll-law.com. The deadline for submissions is noon on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.

The HCDE Board of Trustees will convene at noon on Wednesday, November 29, to review the applications and appoint a new trustee to the vacant seat.
