On January 28, more than 180 students and their robotics teachers attended the Center for Afterschool, Summer, and Enrichment’s (CASE for Kids) 2023 All-Earth Ecobot Challenge Game Reveal Day and first practice day at HCDE’s Irvington office.

The teams and their coaches learned strategies to guide students through the project as well as the rules and theme of this year’s challenge, “Ecobot Green Machine: Expect to Inspect the Unexpected,” which will prompt students to investigate how to solve problems, such as space junk removal and cancer, that the human eye cannot see.

We are teaching kids about complex environmental concepts, and we’re teaching them that through robotics,” said Joe Paneitz, curriculum director and game designer for the All-Earth Ecobot Challenge. “We’re teaching fourth through eighth graders how to think about how to be the problem solvers of tomorrow.”

The 2023 All-Earth Ecobot Challenge is scheduled for April 22, 2023.
