Head Start SuperMENtors Receives Grant From TEGNA

The TEGNA Foundation awarded the Education Foundation of Harris County $11,000 to support the Harris County Department of Education Head Start REAL SuperMENtors Read program. This program promotes literacy and a love of reading for young children. A key feature of the program is recruiting male volunteers to read aloud to children participating in the Early Head Start/Head Start program. Awarded funds will go toward the purchase of age-appropriate book sets from Scholastic, Inc. TRGNA is the parent organization for KHOU-TV, TEGNA is the philanthropic arm.
