Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Named to Finance Officers Association Debt Committee

On Sept. 12, small business representatives and young entrepreneurs who attended the fourth Internal Procurement Annual Supplier Showcase (iPASS) event learned the necessary tools to improve their partnerships with local school districts. Industry experts led sessions at the Irvington Conference Center on procuring goods and services for businesses using local and federal funds.

Congratulations to Dr. Jesus Amezcua, Harris County Department of Education’s Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, on his recent appointment to the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Committee on Governmental Debt and Fiscal Policy. Amezcua will serve a three-year term, which began on Sept. 15, and work with fellow committee members to develop guidelines and monitor legislative and regulatory activities that benefit the general GFOA membership.

GFOA represents state, provincial and local government finance officers and advocates for best practices in areas such as financial reporting, planning and budgeting, debt management, procurement and risk management.
